Tips for Building Self Esteem

Every problem you have in your life can be attributed to your self esteem.
Your beliefs about who you are and what you are capable of, and your own self image and how others perceive you all determine how much self esteem you have.

Here are four tips for building self esteem that will make a big difference in a short space of time and require no effort other than asking yourself a few questions and a willingness to shift from your u
sual way of thinking! Build them into your routines by making them your daily mantra!

1. Accept who you are and practice gratitude
Comparing yourself to other people who have accomplished more, done something you want to do or something you perceive to be better than you, is a recipe for disaster. Focus less on others achievements and more on your own. As soon as you do this, other people will too!
What you appreciate, appreciates! If you are not grateful for what you have right now, how will you appreciate the things that you desire when you get them? Write down in a journal five to ten things you are grateful for once a week.

2. Connect to your inner self
Connecting to your inner self will help keep that critical inner voice at bay.
Ask yourself €Who am I?€
Here is a very simple and powerful way to really explore this question and connect with a deeper sense of you are on the inside; your core self.
Just to breath in €I am€ and breath out whatever answers come up for you. Over two minutes, you might have 12 or more answers starting with the surface answer like €I am a father€, €I am a speaker€, €I am an author€, etc. but at some point if you keep repeating the question €who am I?€, €who am I?€, the deeper elements of who you really are will come through and that's where it gets really profound!
This will anchor into that sense of who you are and also to allow yourself to broaden your perspective.

3. Give back to the universe and help others
The universal law of attraction means that we get back what we give. So, if you want more happiness, give happiness. If you want more love, give more love. It's that simple! Like planting seeds, if you want more joy, plant seeds of joy and water them, remembering the more seeds you plant the more joy you will experience.
Acknowledging the impact that you have in other people's lives will also really help to build your self worth. Ask yourself €How can I help or who can I help?€
When we reach out and support others, however big or small our actions, it makes us feel good and adds to our self worth. In your morning ritual consider how you can be a gift for someone that day and be intentional about it. It might be as simple listening to someone or sharing some wisdom.

4. Practice self love
When low self esteem shows up, it's often in the form of negative feelings and emotions. Use positive affirmations to change the way you feel about yourself.
Try: €I am lovable€, €I am capable€, to start then create your own affirmations.
Believing that you are a good person is a very good start in believing that you are lovable and capable. I think it's unrealistic to expect that your negative voice is ever going to completely go away but don't give it so much energy and power, and don't forget you have a choice about what you feel at any given moment.

Practice Communication in your Marriage

Most couples believe they need better communication skills and that would change their relationship for the better. They claim that they either argue because of misunderstandings or that one or the other don’t discuss their problems openly. Communication (or lack of it) is often NOT the problem Most couples have re-hashed issues over and over and they know what their partner’s position is. The issue is often that they do not accept the partner’s position and are “trying” to get them to change to see their side. And we know how that usually goes; right? It does not happen. So often communication problems will boil down to “they are not listening to me or they would change their behavior”; or “they don’t care enough about me to change”. Neither of these thought processes are helpful to building and sustaining a fabulous relationship. Breakdowns in communication are often the way in which each partner successfully maintains a balance of power. Power and control issues usually ex...

Ways in which a Perception Of Someone can Be Defined By How Other People Describe Them

There are times when one will meet someone without knowing anything about them and then there are other times when this won’t be the case. In this instance, one will have heard about the other before person they have even met them. When this happens, one can feel as though they already know the other person, and even though they haven’t met them, they may feel the need to behave in a certain way. And the way in which they behave can all depend on how the other person describes them. First Impression This can mean that their first impression of the other person won’t be formed through being in their presence; it will be formed through listening to what other people say. It then might not matter how accurate their descriptions are, as one can believe they are finding out what someone is like. However, if one hears what other people have to say and then decides to come to their own conclusion, they might be able see for themselves. But, this doesn’t mean they won’t...
