We are sure that with a control on your reactions you are feeling
more peaceful and in flow with life. That's very good because now we are
about to determine the importance of the present, the NOW!
All of our life we dream of that day when everything will fall into place, when life will be trouble free with no more problems, when we will be content with what we have and that is when we shall sit back and do what we feel like doing. And the older we get, the farther this day seems to move. What does this happen? Because the so-called 'big day' is a myth, unknown reality, a mirage. W
e are chasing a dream made of smoke.
Do we know what it means to be alive? Have not taken our life for granted? Happiness can wait, you say, for I must make my career, make money, buy a house and settle down properly first. No doubts you need to do all this things for your materialistic comfort and survival, but why not appreciate and enjoy the process while you are busy achieving this things? Why prevent yourself from enjoying and appreciating every single minute?
At some point in our lives, nearly all of us yearn for another chance to do the one thing we always dream about doing but never actually got around to doing it. Somehow, we avoid taking the leap of faith that separates dreaming from doing. To add fuel to fire, we get convenience by society's chronic complainer who bemoans their jobs and marriages or life in general. Such complainers do nothing constructive to change what makes the unhappy and they encourage you to join their gang of life cursers. Would it not, by logic, be better to prize what life has given you at this very moment and start relishing the taste of life now? Feel fortunate that nature has honored you with another day to live. Many did not get thus chance. They slept away into another world. The drastic earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. Give us proof again and again of the acidic reality of the uncertainty of the next breath. Such events make many people get up and start living before it's too late. These reminders by nature, through hurtful, are true facts of life and should be used as lessons to learn from.
So before it's too late, start fulfilling your dreams, start living the life you always wanted to live, for you may never get another chance. Make a promise to yourself that from today, you will really live everyday of your life.
Remember, as a school student you thought: 'when I'm out of this school and go to college, life will be great. I will be happy then'. Surprisingly, when you got into college, you will not as thrilled as you thought you would be. You were again wishing, 'when I finished college and get into the real world as a smart executive, then life will be fun!' you again let down when you got your degree, but we're not happy till you got the right job.
You finally got the job but you could not be happy as you had to take a whole lot of orders from your seniors. The postponement of happiness goes on and on until you got married, buy a house, get your children into the right school, get them through college, and get to a higher post to work... The list is endless.
You practically drop dead before you ever allow yourself to be happy. All the present moment was spent planning a wonderful future that never really arrived.
Aren't most of us living this way? Living as if we live forever, assuming that we will live on and on and that surely today is not the last day of our life. But, the biggest irony of life is that no one can guarantee you whether you will be here tomorrow.
