Believing in ourself is essential to believing in someone else. What
is not evaluated often enough is how we may have changed over the
months, and years of our lives. Our likes may have changed, our dislikes
may have also. Sometimes we seem to think we remain the same especially
after we have been in a relationship.
It is not reasonable to believe everything we are looking for is going to be found in someone. Having a spirit of compromise is important and sensible. We have to be honest with ourselves that
we all possess good and bad qualities. No one should have in their mind that we get without giving.
How does that giving work? When we free ourselves up from the past, and open up ourselves for the future, giving will come easier because we have released anything that will hinder us from loving and trusting. How long does that take? As long as necessary!
Some of us hold on to pain too long, to emotions too long, to memories too long. We even carry those feelings into new relationships and wonder why we face similar feelings. What is really unfortunate is when we do not give ourselves time to heal regardless of who caused the pain. Being in a relationships for any length of time is going to draw feelings, emotions out of us. When we think otherwise, we are deceiving ourselves and others. It is how we restore those feelings and emotions that really matters.
How wonderful would it be to come into a relationship free and clear? Fully available for something new. It is exciting to be in a relationship, we want it to be wonderful. There are many outside influences already waiting to influence our relationship, so by evaluating ourselves and becoming free will allow our relationship to go along way.
There are also qualities to brush up on, such as: Our personality, our self esteem, our confidence. We must be good stewards of ourselves too, not to expect someone else to be responsible for our recovery. It is not the person we are planning to be with responsibility to cure our aches and pains of our past. "Big mistake!"
What does God want us to do individually before we get into that relationship that we want to be in? It is very important to understand that each one of us have to find our true identity first. Who am I, and what am I called to be? The greatest challenge for us is when the enemy can speak to us better than we can speak to ourselves.
The enemy's whole purpose is to disrupt our destiny in progress by bringing someone in our life that will throw us off course, but when we know who we are and allow God to send us the one to compliment where we are going, not where we have been, happiness will follow. Move self out of the way! Let's stop wasting time, it is too precious.
